DOB: 4 July 1935
From: East Fremantle
Western Australian state centreman who transferred to Victoria and signed with the Demons in 1957. Refused a clearance by the state league he continued to train and play practice matches, and was one of the best in a match between VFL recruits.
Preen eventually went home when he couldn't find a permanent job - citing disappointment with his treatment by club officials. The Western Australian league eventually refused his clearance anyway.
Later that year he was disqualified by the WA league after playing in a match for Glenhuntly without a clearance while in Melbourne. St Kilda later sought his services at the end of the season but he never played VFL.
He also played 13 first class cricket matches for Western Australia
