Ruck-rover and half-back flanker who possessed an accurate handball and could be used as a tagger when required. Jarrott joined Melbourne in 1982 after five seasons with North Melbourne.

In 1988 Jarrott coached the Demon Under 19's and he later worked as a sports journalist for The Age.
