At 0-3 and 22 points behind during the second quarter, the Demons' season looked finished. The spark was created by Nathan Jones, who kicked two quick goals to get his side back into it, before Jake Melksham cut the gap to less than a goal. The last three goals of the third quarter set up a 14 point lead, and despite conceding the opening goal of the last the visitors won the last quarter. It was their first win at the SCG since Round 4, 2006, where they also saved a winless start to the year.
Best were Gawn, Jones and Petracca. Preuss hurt his shoulder, and Oscar McDonald sat out the last quarter with concussion.
