Last Game
Peter Keenan
Having sparked in the middle of the year the tired Demons were now desperately looking for the finish line in 1982. Peter Keenan, increasingly frail - and as it turns out about to end his career - was smashed by Matthew Rendell and though Glenn McLean was brave the Lions did what they liked in the middle.
A 36 point lead at quarter time was enough to put the game away as a contest. It had extended to 45 points at the long break before the Demons got three in a row to open the third and put some life back into the contest. The Lions then snuffed the interest out with four of their own.
Mick Conlan booted four in the last 19 minutes to extend the margin and make it a thrashing.
O'Sullivan, Johnson and Icke were the best. Keenan suffered a knee injury in what would ultimately be his last VFL match and Wilson a bruised thigh.
