Melbourne stayed at the top of the ladder by beating another premiership contender, this time a team that had previously won seven games in a row. They had to do it the hard way, giving up a 20 point lead at half time before kicking nine goals to three in the second half to win comfortably.
The game was originally scheduled for Traeger Park in Alice Springs but was moved to Sydney due to travel restrictions caused by a COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria.
Best were Christian Petracca, James Harmes and Clayton Oliver. Oskar Baker was an unused substitute, and did not play another game for the club. Tom Sparrow was fined $2000 for rough conduct.
