The former St Kilda Seconds player debuted as a wingman in Melbourne's greatest ever league victory, but never found a permanent spot in the side.
Dick's brother Dave also played for St Kilda, Essendon and Footscray. Dave was cleared to Melbourne in 1927 but did not play a senior match. Their father was a former Essendon captain. Trained at Sandringham in the 1929 pre-season.
