Rover who debuted in the Thirds in 1951 and played there for the next two seasons. He missed the 1954 pre-season due to national service duty, but became best known that year as the Seconds player who marked and kicked a goal after the siren to win the 1954 Seconds semi final and put Melbourne into the Grand Final. He played 12 home and away games that year, and had come on as the 19th man when he kicked the goal.
Despite this he didn't play any senior matches and was cleared to VFA side Prahran early in 1955. He stayed there through 1958.
