The Demons were unexpectedly dragged into a shootout, but failed to hold on after being 13 points in front at the last change. They'd been as much as 27 points in front in the second quarter, but a lack of forward pressure that saw them not register a tackle inside the forward 50 all night allowed the Dogs to register easy scores at the other end. After an early last term goal they conceded the last four of the game and were beaten, leaving their top four aspirations looking shaky with three home and away games to play.
Best were Oliver, Gawn and Brayshaw. Toby Bedford was an unused substitute.
