The 14th and 15th placed sides clashed, and both teams put out youthful lineups due to injury and suspension.
Ricky Petterd's season was curtailed after he left the field suddenly during the first quarter with breathing difficulties, which club doctors quickly identified as a collapsed lung. A burst cyst at the top of the lungs was the cause; a previously unidentified complaint that had not been caused by any on-field collision.
Best were Wheatley, Bate and McDonald.
Lynden Dunn was a late replacement for Cameron Bruce. Colin Sylvia was reported for wrestling but the charge was withdrawn and Aaron Davey was suspended two matches for striking.
