With the first three goals of the game Melbourne looked a chance to rack up their third consecutive win at Football Park, but from the moment the Crows got their first goal of the match just seconds before quarter time the game shifted decisively in their favour. The Demons had led by 20 points at the 19 minute mark of the first term but went missing and didn't goal again until 25 minutes into the third, a period in which the Crows slammed on 11 unanswered goals. In that time the Demons kicked 13 straight points, and inaccuracy plagued the forward line with Farmer (2.5), Robertson (3.3) and Schwarz (0.5) all missing chances.
Best for Melbourne were Robertson, Powell and Leoncelli.
