The Pioneers top goalkicker in 2008 was taken with the Demons second pick in the rookie draft despite the club not contacting Healey before the draft. He had won two premierships in six senior games with Eaglehawk in the Bendigo League, winning best on ground honours in the second victory.

Healey did not play senior football, missing much of the VFL season through injury. Healey played much of his second season in the VFL, breaking into the Casey senior side near the end of the year. He failed to play a match in either year and was delisted at the end of 2010.

In 2011 he played for Peel Thunder in the WAFL, before returning to Victoria to join Heidelberg in 2012. At Shepparton in 2018 and North Bendigo in 2023.
