First played Reserves in 1979 before making his senior debut late the next year. Maynard added another five games in 1981 before transferring to SANFL side Glenelg. He played 196 games in Adelaide and was part of Glenelg's 1985 and 1986 premierships.
Returned to the Demons as General Manager of Commercial Operations in December 2009, but later became General Manager of the Nova919 and FiveAA radio stations in Adelaide before resigning in April 2015. From October 2017 he was General Manager of Operations for Casey Demons
One son Brayden played in a premiership for Collingwood, and another Corey was signed by the Demons as a Category B rookie in 2016 after a career as a basketballer, debuting in 2017.
