Initially played as a forward on promotion from the Seconds, Moodie only kicked three goals in his 16 game career. In 1930, he was Melbourne's representative in a VFL Seconds composite team.
After spending the entire 1931 season captaining the seconds to a flag, Moodie returned for the first game of 1932 but did not play another senior match and instead moved to New South Wales. Joined Brighton in 1938 but did not play another game.
