The granddaughter of Melbourne legend Donald Cordner was a soccer player with no Australian rules background when recruited as a Category B rookie before the 2017 season. Cordner played every game of her first season but was delisted at the end of the year. She joined VU Western Spurs before rejoining Melbourne as a delisted free agent. She broke back into the side in the last four weeks of 2018, and became a reliable key defender over the next two seasons.
After the 2020, Cordner was traded to Richmond for pick #17 in the 2020 Draft. At the end of the 2022 spring season, Cordner was traded to Carlton.
