Originally linked to the Demons in the 1955 pre-season, Rover Kerr crossed to Melbourne early in 1956 after two seasons with the Blues but couldn't break into a strong side, despite performances which eventually won him the Gardiner Medal for best player in the Seconds with four best on ground performances.
A knee injury in the 1957 pre-season delayed his start to the year, and after three straight senior games early in the year he didn't play again.
