Also known as "Ted", Pemberton training with Fitzroy in the 1930 pre-season after winning Sale's 'Most Consistent Player'. He had previously been sought by St Kilda but signed with Melbourne instead.

His rookie season was Pemberton's best, playing 16 games on the wing. Injury and illness restricted him to just 20 appearances across the next four years. His first major injury occurred in the first game of 1931 and he missed a further 11 weeks during the middle of the year due to illness.

In Round 3, 1932 Pemberton suffered a broken hand which cost him another five weeks on the sidelines. Illness struck again at the start of the 1933 season, keeping him out until Round 6 and he played just two games for the year. In 1934 he didn't play his first game of the season until Round 9, managed three in a row then suffered a thigh injury which put him out until Round 18.

Pemberton was cleared to Clydebank in July 1936, captain/coaching them in 1937 before retiring and remaining as coach through at least 1939. He led them to their first premiership in 1938 and another the next year. He was named coach of Mornington in 1946.

In 1934 he played for the Melbourne FC cricket club.

Notes
Argus lists him as being cleared to 'Sale' during 1936 but this is probably the region rather than the club as he went to Clydebank.
