Wingman/rover who signed for Hawthorn in 1943 but didn't play a game. He joined Melbourne in 1944 on the recommendation of Checker Hughes, and made his debut in Round 1, 1944. He only played two matches before spending the rest of the season in the Seconds.

He returned for nine games the next season. He had played the first six matches of 1945 before an ankle injury kept him out until Round 18.

Conroy managed just one more game in 1946. In the 1947 pre-season he trained at Richmond, but instead joined VFA team Brighton where he remained until 1954. He signed for both Brighton and Oakleigh before the start of the year.
