Signed in the 1960 pre-season after winning the Federal League Best and Fairest, Leslie was one of only two new players to make the senior list. He was invited to join the Demons a year earlier but preferred to remain with McKinnon. In one of his first practice games he beat 1959 Best and Fairest winner Laurie Mithen, confirming his spot on the senior list, but spent his first year in the Seconds before debuting in 1961.

Leslie played six games in his first season, culminating in a losing Semi Final, and remained on the list in 1962 but did not play another senior match. Joined Moorabbin in 1963, then played at Mordialloc from 1964 to 1970. Moved to America, then returned for a comeback at Mordialloc in 1973 but was injured in his first appearance.
