The son of former North Melbourne player Mark was drafted as a clearance winning player to boost the Demons' midfielder stocks. He made his debut in the first round of 2015, and went on to play all but one game for the season. Brayshaw finished fifth in the end of season Rising Star voting.

He had a delayed start to his second season, suffering a knee injury at the first bounce of Melbourne's opening practice match which kept him out of the rest of the pre-season games. He suffered a number of injuries early in the season, including repeated concussions, which restricted him to 10 matches. More concussion problems in 2017 further kept him out of the game for most of the season, playing the first two and last three games.
