Alexander Thomas Ogilvie played for the Scotch College football side from 1902 to 1904 and was captain in his last year at the school. He moved to Melbourne University to study law, and while he was there was recruited by the Fuschias.

He only managed one game after deciding to concentrate on his studies instead. In 1908 he made a return with the University side in their first VFL season, and impressed so much that he was chosen to represent the VFL at the Melbourne Carnival.

Ogilvie played two seasons with University but retired after his graduation in 1909, becoming a lawyer in 1911. He joined the army and was survived the Gallipoli landings but was seriously wounded shortly after and died of his injuries in Malta three days later.
