With 11 of their top 20 players missing, and Brad Miller sidelined for most of the game with a shoulder injury, the Demons had more entries inside 50 in the first half but were wasteful in front of goal before being swept away in a blistering second half assault by the Crows.
The form of Travis Johnstone and Steven Armstrong was the only positive signs for Neale Daniher. Daniher had attempted to call-up David Schwarz at the last minute for his first game of the season but AFL red tape stopped Schwarz from playing when it was discovered that his registration papers hadn't yet been submitted to the league.
