Crowd: 14,787

Melbourne 3.4, 11.6, 19.10, 24.16.160
West Coast 4.5, 7.7, 8.10, 11.13.79

Melbourne win by 81 points

Goalkickers: Darren Cuthbertson 6, Darren Bennett 4, Andrew Obst 3, Garry Lyon 3, Stephen Tingay 2, Graeme Yeats 2, Stephen Newport 2, Rod Keogh 1, Steven Stretch 1

Three weeks after the Eagles knocked Melbourne out of the finals series, the sides met again in America and the Demons maintained their record of never losing a match outside Australia.

On a small ground with artificial turf the match was played 15-a-side with no pockets. Cuthbertson kicked five goals in the second quarter. Many fans left in the last quarter because the scores were so lopsided. The AFL suggested the city may get another exhibition game in 1991 but no further games were played there.

Best were Keogh, Stynes and Spalding. Lyon injured his thumb.
