Wilbur "Webber" Jackson represented Ballarat and cricket, football and tennis, but had his career put on hold for a year due to a suspension because of an irregularity with his birthdate. Despite his year out of the game he was keenly sought after by the VFL clubs when he announced an intention to move to the city and eventually signed with Melbourne in 1930.
After his VFL career ended, Jackson captain/coached Ballarat in 1934 and in 1938 won a premiership with North Ballarat as they entered the local competition. After his playing career ended he became an umpire and was named one of the league's top ten umpires of all time.

Notes
Some sources shown him from Golden Point. Clearance reports show his club of origin as Ballarat. A newspaper lists him as from Tasmania but this is an error.
