The Demons jumped back into the five nearing the halfway mark of the season when they racked up their biggest win over St Kilda since 1964.
Powerful, running football dominated the visitors, and with three Saints players suffering heavy knocks within the first twenty minutes of the game they withered over the second and third quarters - kicking just two goals.
Melbourne's backline were dominant, with powerful, running football from the midfielders delivering multiple chances for full-back turned forward Ray Biffin and Greg Wells who was wasteful with 0.5.
Best were S. Smith, Hardeman and Coles. Alves (ribs) was replaced by Keays at three quarter time and McKellar by Kelly in the last quarter.
