In an Easter Saturday night game, Melbourne extended their record to 5-0 for the second consecutive season. A strong performance by the backline cut out the Giants' attacking power, extending the margin to nearly five goals before GWS launched a belated comeback. The margin was cut to less than three goals at the half, before a third quarter blitz won the game. The Demons piled on 10 goals, from different goalkickers, with their 10.4 quarter their biggest since the 1994 Semi Final.
The margin reached as high as 78 points in the last quarter before a pair of belated GWS goals reduced the margin below their record loss to Melbourne
Best were Steven May, Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver. Toby Bedford was an unused substitute. Jake Lever injured his ankle.
