A disappointing season ended in appropriate fashion, with Melbourne's third loss to North in Hobart by under a goal. After a tight, low-scoring first three quarters, a six goal to five third term gave the Demons a one point lead going into the last quarter. They remained in front until the last 90 seconds when North goalled to snatch the win.
