Peter Weekes (2nd game)
Hawthorn started favourite at home, and after twelve minutes of the game they were in control with ace full-forward Peter Hudson already on three goals and looking deadly against Tassie Johnson. Johnson recovered and only conceded three more to Hudson throughout the day, but he didn't get the support he needed from his forwards.
No goals in the second quarter left them more than six points down, and even though the Demons nearly broke even in the second half they were too far behind to challenge and the Hawks cantered to an easy victory.
Best were Parke, Roet and Groom. Fowler (bruised forearm) was replaced by Walker in the last quarter. Townsend (ankle) was replaced by Davis in the last quarter. Bourke bruised his thihg.
