Despite a first half where they lost Daniel Bell, Liam Jurrah and Michael Newton to shoulder injuries, the Demons took a handy lead into half-time.
The Crows struck back in the third quarter, and led for most of the last term before a Ricky Petterd goal in the dying minutes put Melbourne in front. They couldn't hold on though, and the Crows goalled again to win.
Best for Melbourne were Scully, Petterd and Trengove
