1877 player who joined Carlton the next year, remaining there until early 1881 when he crossed to South Melbourne. He returned to Carlton in 1882 and and played there until 1883 when the club banned him for life after bad behaviour on a country trip.
Barrass also umpired 17 first class cricket games involving Victoria.
Debuted for Carlton Imperial in 1875. Nicknamed 'Mudlark'.
Some sources show his year of birth as 1864, but contemporary reports have him as the secretary of Carlton Imperial in 1876 - when he would have been 11 or 12 years old.
