Melbourne were expected to put some light into their disastrous season against a side that they seemed to match up well against, but ended up putting in their worst performance of the year.
Twice they failed to kick a goal for the quarter, and to one end of the ground they managed just 0.3 for the day as St Kilda beat them with absolute ease.
The visitors may have made the margin more respectable had they not kicked so poorly for goal when they had chances.
Libbis, Glass and Jones were best. Les Jones was also reported for striking but found not guilty.
The defeat left Melbourne equal last on the ladder, above only Essendon on percentage.
