The pandemic affected season left the Demons in the unusual position of the home team against Brisbane at the ground of Gold Coast.
They narrowly fell short of a third win in a row, a comeback from three goals down at three quarter time had them within four points late in the game before a failed attempt at a kick to a forward, and a needlessly conceded 50 metre penalty cost them a chance of victory.
Best were Viney, Oliver and Petracca. Kysaiah Pickett was fined $1000 for a dangerous tackle.
