Melbourne's second win of the season kept their wafer thin finals hopes alive, again off the boot of the dominant Fanning, and more accurate kicking extended their record to 89.49 for the season.
The Demons won three of four quarters for the day, and with Collingwood not being able to match Fanning's firepower. He had kicked 18 the previous Monday during an exhibition match in Ballarat and continued his deadly goalkicking form.
Fanning, Cordner and McLean were best.
