After a week off for the postponed Round 3 game against Essendon, Melbourne returned to play in a loss.
Despite being outplayed for most of the day, the Demons had a chance to snatch the game when Adam Tomlinson had a shot on goal in the dying seconds. He missed and Geelong held on to win.
