The Blues dominated and were never challenged, even taking Alex Jesaulenko off at half-time to try and even up the contest.
All eyes were focused on new recruit Greg Wood who had kicked 176 goals for Wallan the previous year. Matched up by Geoff Southby, the best full back in the country, he was soundly beaten and forced onto a half-forward flank.
Bob Skilton reacted to the result by demanding all players return to the ground for training at 10am Sunday.
