A Scotch 1st XVIII player from 1903 to 1905, recruited to the VFL side in his last year at the school.

Played five games across one calendar year before leaving the club. He then joined St Kilda and played one game for them in 1907.

Brown later became a journalist and explorer. In 1917 he enlisted in the army to serve in World War I.
