The captain of Shepparton was recruited after winning the Best and Fairest award in the Central Goulburn Valley League. He debuted for Shepparton in 1940, playing two seasons before war service. He returned in 1946.

The short, solidly built rover played 12 games in his debut season. Originally on a two match permit, he played in the opening two games of the season. Two days after his second match he played another game for Shepparton, and was then cleared to the Demons as suitable employment had been found. He played the last three of the home and away series then missed the finals.

Roscoe started 1949 in the first team and played the first five games of the year - however the defending premiers were poor and only won one game out of five. Roscoe was dropped and never appeared in the seniors again.

Captain/coach of Caulfield in 1951.
