Fitness Coach for the 1998 season, Crottie had previously been in charge of strength and conditioning for NFL sides San Diego and Los Angeles Rams as well as working with olympic athletes.

He had previously worked with the Demons before moving to Europe in 1987, and was offered a full time job after putting together rehabilitation programs for Garry Lyon and Stephen Tingay.
