Coming off their sole pre-season victory the Demons barely fired a shot in losing their final hitout. It wasn't until Sydney rested most of their big guns that Adem Yze helped sparked a four goal final quarter to make the margin more respectable.
Stephen Powell made his return to football by playing the second half. He was reported for striking Wayne Schwass but found not guilty. Darren Jolly was also reported for striking Brett Kirk but he was found guilty and outed for two matches.
Yze, Jolly and McDonald were the Demons best.
