1932 Seconds Grand Final

Saturday 1 October - MCG

Melbourne - 2.3, 5.6, 5.7, 8.12.60
Essendon - 1.4, 2.5, 4.9, 4.10.34

Melbourne win by 26 points

Goalkickers: Sharp 3, McInnes 2, Deane 1, Coomber 1, Ogden 1

Battling for their second successive premiership, Melbourne used a ruck dominance and superior stamina to win. In a poor quality game marred by errors, Essendon had the better of the match early with the use of the breeze but Melbourne's defence remained resolute and held the opposition out long enough to open a five point lead.

Essendon quickly took the lead back, before Melbourne booted three goals late in the second quarter to open a 19 point lead. They were also on top in the third quarter but after two early goals were unable to penetrate Melbourne's strong defence and only managed four behinds, going into the last quarter four points behind. Essendon missed a number of easy chances in the early stages of the last quarter and Melbourne kicked way to win the premiership easily.

Best were Deane, Green and Ogden. Young replaced Henning (concussion) at three quarter time.
