Saturday 13 September - Melbourne Ground
Crowd: 5000
Melbourne 2
Albert Park 3 (half time 2.4-0.4)
Albert Park win by 1 goal
Goalkickers: Frank Crohan 1, Murdoch McKenzie 1
In the second meeting between the two sides for the season, Melbourne suffered another defeat. They were two goals up through Crohan and McKenzie, but with the use of the wind Albert Park rallied to kicked three goals in a row.
Melbourne had one or two more easy shots but couldn't score again. They suffered from the late season absence of key players like Longden, Lamrock and Sandilands. Their advantage lay in their size against Albert Park's speed, and they used it to advantage in the first half before fading.
With positional changes and a response to their captain's demands for less individual play, the Parkites were rejuvenated. An early Melbourne attack failed and provided an opportunity for their opponents to counter-attack and score through an undefended goal. They quickly added two more to take an unbeatable lead.
Best were C. Baker, F. Baker and McKenzie.
