With their season almost shot the Demons finally debuted boom recruit George Lakes, finally cleared by the SANFL, and were rewarded by a strong performance. His teammates helped Lakes earn a victory in his debut.
Despite being beaten at centre half-back and in the rucks, the Demons won out thanks to its midfielders and rovers and after going into quarter time with a slight deficit they took a lead by half time and never surrendered it.
