June 1887 match vs Carlton

Tuesday June 21 - MCG
Crowd - 18,000

Melbourne 1.?, 1.3, 1.4, 2.4
Carlton 1.?, 1.7, 3.7, 5.13

Carlton win by 3 goals

The game was played with a big crowd because of the cancellation of the Essendon-South Melbourne match at the East Melbourne ground. To help the large crowd get home it was decided to start the match early at half past two but the game was delayed 10 minutes for Carlton to take a team shot.

Melbourne got the first goal of the day but Carlton equalised, sending the clubs to quarter time level. Neither side goalled in the second quarter.

Carlton went ahead early in the second half, and they got a second to open up a two goal lead without Melbourne being able to goal. Carlton ran away to an easy win, kicking two goals to one in the last quarter.
