The visitors, without several of their best players, kicked with a slight breeze in the first half but had the ball camped in front of the goal they were defending for 15 minutes. The visitors eventually extracted the ball, but were weak in the forward line and unable to take advantage. Carter had his side's best chance of the first half but missed.

As the sides changed ends the old problem of spectators encroaching on the field became more of a problem. Each side had its chances to open the scoring, with Norcott going closest for his side.

Best were Barker, Byrne and Moore.
