Rover who joined the club in 1964 on the recommendation of ex-player Trevor Johnson after winning a premiership at Epping. He'd earlier turned down an invitation to train with Collingwood.
A knee injury in the final practice match of his first season kept Vearing out until the second half of the year. He resumed in the Reserves but was unable to pass Ken Emselle and John Townsend in the roving pecking order. He made his senior debut in 1965, playing five matches and also winning the Reserves Best and Fairest.
After a further six games and another Reserves Best and Fairest in 1966, Vearing was cut from Melbourne's list. He spent half a season with South Australian country club Mundulla, then returned to Epping in 1968 for a final season before retiring after a serious leg injury.
