Lowest score at MCG
The match was originally scheduled for North Port Oval, but was moved to the MCG to act as a curtain-raiser for the men's Qualifying Final, delivering a record crowd for a Melbourne AFLW game.
Melbourne had more of the play early, but lacking connection between their midfield and forward line, they were unable to turn possession into goals, allowing North the only major of the first quarter. Two quick Daisy Pearce goals at the start of the second quarter put the Demons in front, but they were unable to press home the advantage and lost the lead in the last quarter. It took an Alyssa Bannan wondergoal to win the game, running back with the flight of the ball, gathering it on the bounce in the pocket, then snapping around an opponent while running towards the boundary line. It left Melbourne two points ahead, and with no scoring for the last few minutes they hung on to win, extending their record to 2-0.
Best were Paxman, Purcell and Harris.
