For their second visit to the MCG in a row, the Dees followed a big win with a terrible first quarter that ultimately cost them the game. They charged back from a 26 point quarter time deficit to be just two behind at half time, then had to fight back again from 22 down at three quarter time. The margin got to within two points before North steadied with the last two goals.
Best were Hibberd, Hannan and Frost. Christian Salem was suspended for one week for striking.
