Once again a positive start to the season had turned sour. A third loss in a row caused many critics to write the Demons off for seasons 1980, and not without some justification.
North led by 39 points at quarter time, and the Demons simply didn't look interested. Malcolm Blight had five goals by half time on the way to seven for the match.
Ditterich had little optimism after the game, speaking of his players he said "It was our worst game for the season. They didn't just break every rule in the book, they rewrote it".
Best were Fowler, Elshaug and Healy. Cameron Clayton suffered a suspected pulled hamstring, and Phil Pinnell received bruised ribs.
