Another week, another loss for the hapless Redlegs who were rapidly disintegrating as the season went on.
Again they were in the lead until half time, but when Bert Chadwick suffered a serious kick to the leg early in the third quarter he was forced to go into the forward line where he was soon joined by Ted Thomas who suffered a shoulder dislocation. Alf Wilson then ended his three goal day with a broken collar-bone.
With two lame players Melbourne surrendered the lead at three quarter time and were overrun in the last without kicking a goal.
Thomas had been Melbourne's best until going off.
The loss left Melbourne on their own a game clear at the bottom of the league ladder having sat second after five rounds.
