Murdoch McKenzie

1879 - 1885 player who was chosen to play for Victoria against South Australia in his first season. The next year he also played against New South Wales, and in some games for University.

Served on the committee in 1885 before moving to Edinburgh the same year to finish his medical studies. He returned to the club in 1887.

Murdoch later worked as a doctor in several states of Australia and New Zealand before returning to Victoria, where he died suddenly of an internal complaint aged 55.

He was the older brother of Alex McKenzie.

Also picked in an 1880 Victorian state squad.

Some sources show his name as MacKenzie. Others suggest he was 16-years-old in his first season, but this is not correct. He was more likely 18 or 19.
