Captain - 1883
Victorian state player - 1879, 1881
1879 - 1885 player who was chosen to play for Victoria against South Australia in his first season. The next year he also played against New South Wales, and in some games for University.
Served on the committee in 1885 before moving to Edinburgh the same year. He returned to the club in 1887.
Murdoch later worked in several states of Australia and as a doctor in New Zealand before returning to Melbourne.
He was the older brother of one of the McKenzies who played in 1892 and 1893.
Also picked in an 1880 Victorian state squad.
Some sources show his name as MacKenzie. Others suggest he was 16-years-old in his first season, but this is probably inconsistent with him also playing for University that year.
