Mark Berts

Image DOB: 6 December, 1982

Games: 0
Goals: 0

From: Palmerston, Selection 46, 2000 Rookie Draft

Selected by the Demons with a late rookie pick after breaking shuttle run records at the draft camp, Berts was also a strong performer in the agility, anaerobic and vertical jump tests.

In an era when athletes were often preferred to pure footballers, the club took a punt on Berts with the intention to give him more experience playing at Sandringham. He had already represented the NT in the National Under 18 carnival, and been a member of the Palmerston Grand Final side.

He spent all of his time at Melbourne playing in the Sandringham seconds - playing 20 games for 11 goals as a wing and half-forward.

Wore number 44 while on the senior list.

Returned to Palmerston, joined Sturt in the SANFL and later moved to the NT Thunder in the QAFL. In 2009 he was back at Palmerston as captain and remained with them throughout 2011. He also appeared for Mackay City in the AFL Mackay competition during that year.
